BEHIND THE LENS
Since leaving school I have made my living as a professional photographer. At the age of 18 I started work with local newspapers ‘The Rhondda Leader’ & ‘Pontypridd Observer’ where I gained my experience as a press photographer. Two years later joined ‘Golley Slater & Partners’, one of the UK’s leading advertising agencies where I was to enjoy a different side of photography in advertising. I was then asked to join the launch team at ‘Wales on Sunday’ where I stayed for 3 years before deciding to make the step of becoming self employed.
I have been extremely fortunate to have been able to mix work with pleasure as my passion is fly-fishing and the past 25 years seen me freelance for many of the UK angling publications notably 'Trout Fisherman' UK's leading trout fishing magazine. This has taken me to many countries including Finland, Sweden, Iceland and recently Switzerland but it is the west of Ireland where I prefer to be. The dramatic rugged landscape of Connemara and the incredible light and mood only found in the west is a photographers dream. The last couple of years I have had success in selling my landscapes in various galleries in UK as well as Ireland.
